Un-Solicited Auto Warranty Automated / AutoDialer Phone Calls
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE NOT THE COMPANY MAKING AUTOMATED AUTO WARRANTY PHONE CALLS NOR DO WE HAVE A PHONE CALLING LIST
UPDATE: With your help, we have been able to locate the warranty company behind this. It is currently under investigation and we will keep you posted with more information as it is made available.
Have You Been Contacted Recently About An Expired Auto Warranty? Are you being solicited or harassed by means of a recorded or computerized call? Here is a short version of a typical automated phone call:
"Your warranty has expired and this is your final notice to activate coverage. Press 1 to speak with a Live Agent. Press 2 to be removed from our list."
We can assure you that we are not the company behind these broadcast by phone attacks. It has come to our attention that names similar to ours (Auto Protection Center / Auto Protection Service) have been used in connection with the most recent solicitation of auto warranties via an automated phone dialing system (AKA: Auto Dialer, Predictive Dialer, Voice Broadcasting, Computerized Voice Calling, Smart Autodialer, Automatic Dialers, etc). Again, we are not the company behind these broadcast by phone attacks. Since our name has been used along with reference to our website several times, we are now going to investigate and pursue legal action against the company involved. Any information you might be able to provide would be helpful.
If you have not requested information and have been contacted by a company referencing our website/address (with an Automated Dialer), please contact us with the following information.
1) Exact name along with business address of company calling you.
2) Local Phone Number.
One problem is that they hang up on you when you ask for any company information, but try to get as much information as possible.
How Can I Stop This? Have you been a victim of annoying un-solicted calls? Are you on the Do Not Call Registry? If you're completely outraged with the phone calls and would like to take legal action against the company involved, or at the very least, get them to stop calling, here are a few things you can try.
1) Transfer The Call To Live Agent When prompted to speak with an agent press the correct option. Gather as much information on the company as possible (as stated above). Note: If they are using a 3rd party service to make the calls for them, they are charged a fee everytime the call is transfered. If you speak with a rep everytime you'll cost them money! Maybe eventually, they'll get the idea.
2) Contact your local phone company to have the number traced. If you have not had any luck with the above mentioned options, try this. If the phone company can trace this call, it will give you proof of who it is that's calling you. Unfortunately, they may be spoofing the number, so this won't help. Do not just search on the Internet and assume you've found the company behind the calls. Then contact your state Attorney General and the FTC to see how they can assist.
Again, WE ARE NOT THE COMPANY making the phone calls. We ONLY contact consumers who have requested a free quote or more information from our website.
Who Is Responsible For Making The Calls? We are not sure at this point, however the calls either come from the company offering the services (if they have their own autodialer software), but most likely they've hired a marketing company to do the calls for them. We can tell you that we've found the auto warranty company behind these attacks and will post their information online shortly.
FYI: History of AutoDialers Auto dialers are not something new and have been used for years, since back in the early 90s (typically in the mortgage industry), but now has opened itself up to many different industries including, but not limited to: investments, debt, insurance, vacation, contruction, travel, politics and more. Essentially, it's an easy way to reach a large audience and avoid the cold calling process. There are many companies offering this service, some adhere to the calling laws while others don't. A quick search on the Internet will yield thousands of results for this service. Software for auto dialing is also readily available and can be purchased for as little as $199. While they are a great tool if used properly and legally (for example keep your opt-in users up to date on events, specials, etc), it appears that recently, some, if not most of the auto warranty automated phone call services have not been FTC complient.
