Understanding Auto Insurance Plans
There are several types of auto insurance policies available and it's important that you understand them. While some are necessary, some are not and you can save money by only paying for the insurance coverage required by your state. While there are other types of coverage plans available, we recommend you consider these first, as they are the most common.
  • Personal Injury Protection
In many states it is required that you carry this type of insurance. This coverage pays benefits for the cost of injuries to you or your passengers resulting from an accident regardless of who was at fault in the accident. It also applies to you and relatives living in your household who are injured in other autos or who are struck by a vehicle while walking. The main benefit of this coverage is that in an accident each driver's expenses are paid by his/her own insurance without the need for legal proceedings to determine financial responsibility for the accident.
  • Comprehensive Physical Damage
Pays for damages to your car resulting from theft, fire, vandalism, weather related damage and many other causes.
  • Uninsured Motorist Coverage
Pays damages for physical injury or death caused by an uninsured driver or a hit and run driver who is legally responsible for the accident. Since not all states require drivers to purchase insurance, Uninsured Motorist coverage is essential to protect yourself.
  • Bodily Injury Liability
If your automobile is involved in an accident and injures or kills someone, this coverage pays your legal defense costs and claims against you.
  • Property Damage Liability
If you automobile damages someone else's property this coverage pays your legal defense costs and claims against you. This coverage will not not cover your property, including your auto.
  • Collision
Collission coverage will pay for damage repairs to your auto caused by a collision with another car or any other object, regardless of who was responsible.
  • Underinsured Motorist
If involved in an accident with an insured driver whose Liability coverage limit is insufficient to cover the losses incurred, Underinsured Motorist coverage will pay benefits for bodily injury or death. The benefits are paid to you and any passengers in your car, or to any pedestrian you injure.

What Is Auto Insurance And Why Do I Need It?
Auto insurance policies protect you from damage costs or economic loss when you are involved in an auto accident. For example, an insurance policy can pay for the cost to repair or replace a damaged auto, for the cost of medical treatment for an injury or illness or for the lost income of a person who dies or is unable to work. If you don't have auto insurance, and you are involved in an accident, regardless of which party is at fault, you'll have to pay all expenses yourself. In most cases an insurance company would pay for these costs.

How Much Does Auto Insurance Cost?
Individual auto insurance rates will vary for each person based upon a number of factors such as the number of miles driven, whether the auto is used for business or pleasure, the age and model of the car, and the driver's history of traffic offenses.

How Do I Keep My Insurance Costs Low?
These are the most common rules every driver should follow to maintain lower insurance rates. Keep your driving record clean. Don't get tickets or cause accidents. Tickets and accidents on your driving record can drive your insurance rates higher, so it pays to drive safe.

What Should I Look For When Shopping For Auto Insurance?
When shopping for auto insurance, it is important to shop around and select your insurer carefully. Your insurer should offer both fair prices and excellent service.
